Fuji Television and blockchain game developer METAX-X announced their collaboration on a new anime titled “Dark Machine” at Comic-Con International in San Diego on July 27, 2024. The series, based on a sci-fi battle e-sports game set in the near future, will feature teams competing for dark energy.

Renowned industry figures Goro Taniguchi, known for the “Code Geass” series, will act as creative producer, and Hidetaka Tenjin will serve as lead designer for both the game and anime. This large-scale project aims to merge the gaming and anime worlds, creating a comprehensive multimedia experience.

Fuji Television brings its extensive anime planning expertise, showcased in programs like “Noitamina” and “+Ultra,” to this venture. Production +h, praised for their work on “Chikyuugai Shounen Shoujo” and “Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction,” will handle animation production. The series will explore the immersive world of “Dark Machine” and the emotional journeys of its characters within the e-sports setting.

Established in Dubai in January 2023, METAX-FZCO specializes in integrating new-generation technologies such as blockchain games and NFTs. The company, led by industry veteran Takashi Murakoshi, will manage the “Dark Machine” anime project through a newly formed production committee.

While the release date and media platforms for the anime remain unannounced, updates will be shared via social media. By choosing San Diego Comic-Con for the announcement, Fuji Television and METAX-FZCO signal their ambition for “Dark Machine” to reach a global audience.
