Japanese game developer Nihon Falcom Corp. is pushing deeper into Nintendo Switch territory, marking a strategic pivot from its traditional PlayStation-focused business model. The Tokyo-based company plans to self-publish more titles for Nintendo’s platform, starting with The Legend of Heroes series.
The maker of role-playing games aims to boost its annual releases to 4-5 titles from the current 2-3, while maintaining its focus on quality production. The company’s pipeline includes new entries in its flagship franchises “The Legend of Heroes” and “Ys,” along with several unannounced projects.
Falcom’s expansion strategy includes launching “The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki” and multiple localized versions of existing titles across North America, Europe, and Asia through 2025. The company is also developing an unnamed new project in the Tokyo Xanadu series.
The developer canceled the online version of “The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki III” for the Asian market, signaling a potential shift in its online gaming ambitions.
Falcom is exploring additional revenue streams through character merchandise and other non-gaming content, as it seeks to diversify beyond its core gaming business.
The company is strengthening its multi-platform approach while maintaining its signature focus on story-driven RPGs.
