EuBiologics Co., a South Korean vaccine manufacturer, announced on Friday that its Chuncheon Plant No. 2 has received prequalification (WHO-PQ) certification from the World Health Organization (WHO) for the production of oral cholera vaccines Euvichol and Euvichol Plus.
The WHO-PQ certification is a rigorous assessment process that evaluates the manufacturing practices, quality standards, and clinical results of vaccines to ensure their safety and efficacy. This certification is essential for companies to participate in global procurement tenders organized by international bodies such as UNICEF and the Pan American Health Organization.
With this new certification, EuBiologics plans to increase its cholera vaccine bulk production by over 60% compared to last year. Until now, the company’s cholera vaccine production was solely carried out at Chuncheon Plant No. 1.
The expanded production capacity at Chuncheon Plant No. 2 will enable EuBiologics to meet the growing global demand for cholera vaccines, ensuring better availability and supply for international vaccination programs.
