Doosan Bobcat announced on June 14 the groundbreaking of a new compact loader production plant in Monterrey, Mexico. This significant development aims to meet the rising demand for construction equipment in the North American market.
The ceremony, held at the Interpuerto Monterrey industrial complex in Nuevo León, saw attendance from approximately 200 Doosan Group executives, including Park Ji-won, Vice Chairman of Doosan Group, Scott Park, Vice Chairman of Doosan Bobcat, and Mike Ballweber, Head of Doosan Bobcat North America.
With an investment of about 400 billion won ($300 million), the new factory will span 65,000㎡ (20 acres) and is slated for completion in 2026. It will produce the “M-Series” compact loader, a popular model tailored for the North American market.
“Doosan Bobcat has led the global construction equipment market through bold investments and innovation,” stated Park Ji-won. “The new factory in Mexico will support Doosan Bobcat’s continuous growth by responding to the increasing demand for our products in the largest market, North America.”
Doosan Bobcat’s growth has surged over the past five years, driven by increasing product demand. The decision to establish a factory in Mexico was influenced by its strategic location, benefits under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), strong manufacturing infrastructure, and skilled workforce. Monterrey, known as the “industrial capital of Mexico,” was chosen for its market accessibility and cost advantages.
The new factory is expected to boost Doosan Bobcat’s production capacity for loaders in North America by approximately 20%, enhancing the company’s ability to meet market demands. This expansion brings Doosan Bobcat’s global production footprint to eight countries, including South Korea, the United States, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, India, and China.
The new Monterrey plant underscores Doosan Bobcat’s commitment to expanding its presence and capacity in key markets through strategic investments and innovation.
