Japanese mobile game developer COLOPL is expanding its gaming portfolio with 13 new titles in development, signaling a stronger push into the console gaming market.
The Tokyo-based company revealed four smartphone games and nine console titles in its pipeline during its fiscal 2024 earnings presentation. The lineup marks a strategic pivot for COLOPL, which historically focused on mobile gaming.
Two new releases are scheduled for the fiscal year ending September 2025, including “STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT,” a remake of the popular visual novel series. The company is also developing a new mobile game featuring character designs by Kazuma Kaneko, known for his work on the Megami Tensei franchise, though its release timeline remains unconfirmed.
COLOPL recently launched “Festy Battle” for smartphones on August 30, reducing its mobile games under development to four. The company plans to leverage popular intellectual properties for a series of new adventure games, according to the presentation.
The shift toward console development comes as Japan’s mobile gaming market faces increasing competition and user acquisition challenges, pushing developers to diversify their revenue streams.
