Bandai Namco Holdings Inc. posted a 74% jump in operating profit for the April-September period, driven by strong sales of downloadable content for its hit game Elden Ring and sustained growth in mobile games featuring popular anime properties.
The Tokyo-based entertainment company reported operating profit of 113.7 billion yen ($756 million) for the fiscal first half. Revenue climbed 22% to 611.4 billion yen.
The digital business segment saw profits nearly triple to 44.7 billion yen as the Elden Ring expansion pack performed well globally. Mobile games based on Dragon Ball and One Piece franchises maintained steady growth in domestic and international markets.
The company’s traditional toys and hobby segment, anchored by Gundam plastic models and collectible figures, posted a 31% profit increase to 59.7 billion yen amid rising global demand for Japanese pop culture merchandise.
Bandai Namco raised its full-year forecast, now expecting operating profit of 160 billion yen on sales of 1.15 trillion yen. The new outlook represents a 76% jump in profit from the previous year.
Dragon Ball remained the company’s top intellectual property, generating 44.7 billion yen in quarterly sales, while Gundam franchise revenue hit a record 40.4 billion yen.
