AK Entertainment, a group company of Nojima, announced that it will absorb its subsidiary AK Media. This strategic move, detailed in the “Merger Notice” published in the “Official Gazette” on May 27, will result in AK Entertainment taking over all rights and obligations of AK Media, which will be dissolved.
AK Media was initially established to hold and manage shares in Animax Broadcast Japan and Kids Station. In December of last year, AK Entertainment acquired these shares from Sony Pictures Entertainment, making AK Media a wholly owned subsidiary. This merger signifies the final step in Nojima’s acquisition process of Animax Broadcast Japan and Kids Station.
Animax is renowned for broadcasting a diverse range of popular anime, including exclusive original programs and events that celebrate anime culture. The channel’s offerings extend to various collaborations and unique experiences through events and themed cafes.
Kids Station, on the other hand, caters to a younger audience with its extensive lineup of popular children’s anime series, feature-length films, TV specials, and original programs. The channel also engages its audience through a YouTube channel and various events.
The merger of AK Media into AK Entertainment is expected to streamline operations and reinforce Nojima’s presence in the anime broadcasting sector. With this consolidation, Nojima aims to enhance its service offerings and strengthen its foothold in the entertainment industry.
