Japanese mobile game developer Aiming Inc. reported a deepening operating loss after its new title missed revenue targets by ¥800 million ($5.3 million) in the third quarter. The Tokyo-based company posted an operating loss of ¥1.3 billion for January-September, compared with a ¥251 million loss a year earlier.
Revenue dropped 14.8% to ¥11.8 billion, hurt by delays in finalizing contracts with investors for its Wind Breaker production committee. The company’s latest game, “2.5-Dimensional Temptation Angels’ Stage,” failed to meet expectations since its September launch.
Despite setbacks, Aiming projects a strong fourth-quarter recovery, forecasting a 55.8% quarter-on-quarter sales increase. The company expects its newly released “Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue Saga” and upcoming “Wind Breaker” game adaptation to boost performance.
The developer’s established title “Dragon Quest Tact,” co-developed with Square Enix, maintained steady user engagement through its fourth anniversary campaign. However, older games like “Logres of Swords and Magic” showed declining key performance indicators.
For the full year ending December, Aiming forecasts revenue of ¥17.6 billion, down 1.4% year-on-year, with an operating loss of ¥246 million.
