ABC Animation, a subsidiary of the Asahi Broadcasting Group, announced on August 9, 2024, that it has signed a share transfer agreement to acquire Toysium, a game and app development company. While the financial details of the acquisition remain undisclosed, ABC Animation will gain full control of Toysium’s shares, 88% of which are currently held by Yudai Nagano, the company’s representative director.
This acquisition is part of the Asahi Broadcasting Group’s broader strategy to strengthen its broadcasting and content businesses. By integrating Toysium into its operations, ABC Animation plans to enhance its anime lineup and expand its global reach in the animation sector.
Founded in 2019, Toysium has developed popular games such as “Gift” and “Smash Party,” earning recognition for its strong development capabilities. This acquisition will complement ABC Animation’s existing operations, which include planning and producing television and theatrical anime.
The Asahi Broadcasting Group has been actively expanding its portfolio through mergers and acquisitions. In recent years, it has acquired animation studio SILVER LINK., anime goods company Zero G Act, and CGCG Studio, a CG video production company. The acquisition of Toysium marks another step in Asahi Broadcasting’s ambition to become a comprehensive content business group, with a focus on growing its anime business both domestically and internationally.
