Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) announced the purchase of Innolux’s fourth factory building and ancillary facilities in Tainan for NT$17.14 billion (approximately $540 million). This acquisition is aimed at expanding TSMC’s production capabilities as the company continues to ramp up its advanced packaging operations.

The factory, located in Xinshi District, Tainan City, covers an area of over 96,000 square meters. Although the market initially anticipated a higher purchase price of around NT$20 billion, the final transaction value came in lower than expected. Industry experts believe that TSMC plans to use the facility to support its growing demand for advanced packaging technologies, which are essential for the next generation of semiconductor products.

As TSMC continues to solidify its position as a leader in semiconductor manufacturing, this acquisition is seen as a strategic move to enhance its production capacity and maintain its competitive edge in the global market.
