TOMY Company, Ltd. reported record-breaking results for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2025, with sales surging 24.3% year-on-year to 53.586 billion yen (US$376.5 million). Operating profit increased 65.9% to 4.157 billion yen (US$29.2 million), while ordinary profit rose 57.1% to 3.661 billion yen (US$25.7 million). Net profit also climbed 38.8% to 2.507 billion yen (US$17.6 million).
The company’s success was bolstered by strong sales of “Beyblade X,” which expanded across Japan and Asia and has begun to enter European and U.S. markets. Additionally, the launch of the “Detective Conan” trading card game attracted a wide audience, contributing significantly to revenue growth. Takara Tomy Arts reported increased sales of Pokémon-related products, and its “gacha” toy business saw robust performance, further driving profits.
In Japan, Kiddyland’s character products maintained popularity, supported by inbound tourism and strong demand at flagship stores. Globally, Tomy’s expansion strategy is paying off, with “Tomica” and “Beyblade X” performing well in Asia, despite a sluggish toy market in the U.S., Europe, and Oceania.
Looking ahead, Tomy forecasts sales of 230 billion yen (US$1.62 billion) for the fiscal year ending March 2025, a 14.5% increase from the previous year, with expectations for continued growth in profits. The company is focused on sustaining momentum through strategic product launches and global market penetration.
