Hyundai Motor Group’s US sales jumped 17.4% to 147,613 vehicles in October, setting a monthly record as American consumers snapped up hybrid models amid higher fuel prices.
The Korean auto giant’s eco-friendly vehicle sales surged 52% to 31,668 units, with hybrid models hitting an all-time high of 14.7% of total deliveries. Hyundai’s mainstream brand posted an 18.3% gain to 78,705 vehicles, while Kia deliveries rose 16.5% to 68,908 units.
The Tucson compact SUV remained Hyundai’s bestseller with 19,829 deliveries, including 6,790 hybrid versions that more than doubled from a year earlier. Kia’s Sportage led the brand with 13,681 units.
The group’s premium Genesis marque saw a 20.6% increase to 6,903 vehicles, with its GV80 SUV posting record annual sales of 2,446 units.
Pure electric vehicle deliveries rose 30.3% to 9,985 units, led by Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 with 4,498 sales. Kia’s new three-row EV9 SUV contributed 1,941 units as the company expands its battery-powered lineup.
The results were partly helped by two additional selling days compared with October 2022.
