CyberAgent, a major Japanese IT firm, announced the acquisition of Nitroplus, a well-known entertainment company, on June 26, 2024. CyberAgent will purchase 140 shares, representing 72.5% of Nitroplus’s issued shares, for ¥16.683 billion from four individual shareholders. Following the acquisition, Nitroplus will operate as a consolidated subsidiary with its current management structure intact, led by President Takashi Kosaka.

Founded in 1998 by Susumu Fujita, CyberAgent has rapidly expanded through internet advertising and successful ventures in gaming and video streaming, including the popular service Abema. With annual sales of approximately ¥720 billion, CyberAgent continues to pursue aggressive growth strategies, including notable acquisitions such as BABEL LABEL in 2022 and Nelke Planning in 2023. The acquisition of Nitroplus aligns with CyberAgent’s strategy to strengthen its foothold in the media mix and content sectors, aiming to leverage Nitroplus’s expertise in game and anime production.

Nitroplus, established in 1999 and incorporated in 2000, is renowned for its original works like “Touken Ranbu” and “STEINS;GATE.” The company boasts stable management and consistent profitability, with sales reaching ¥3.931 billion in 2023. Nitroplus’s strong creative portfolio and fan loyalty make it a valuable addition to CyberAgent’s expanding media empire. The synergy between CyberAgent’s resources and Nitroplus’s creative capabilities is expected to drive significant business growth and innovation in content production.
