Chunghwa Telecom has officially expanded its international footprint with the establishment of its European subsidiary in Frankfurt, Germany, on August 26. The move marks a significant milestone in the company’s global strategy, completing its service network across Europe, the United States, and Asia. The announcement was made during a virtual flag conferment ceremony, with Chunghwa Telecom’s top executives participating remotely.
The new European subsidiary aims to support Taiwanese companies operating in Europe, particularly in Germany, one of the continent’s key economic hubs. Chunghwa Telecom’s Chairman, Kuo Shui-yi, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing seamless telecommunications services wherever Taiwanese businesses are present.
While the company did not confirm specific details, market speculation suggests that Chunghwa Telecom’s expansion into Germany may be linked to TSMC’s recent decision to establish a factory there, potentially addressing local network infrastructure and ICT needs.
Chunghwa Telecom has a long history of developing its overseas business, with subsidiaries already operating in the United States, Hong Kong, Japan, and several Southeast Asian countries. By establishing a base in Germany, Chunghwa Telecom strengthens its position as Taiwan’s only telecom operator with a comprehensive global network. The company also revealed plans to collaborate with local European telecom firms and Taiwanese ICT companies to support further expansion.
