South Korea’s Taihan Cable & Solution Co. has announced that its US subsidiary, T.E.USA, has secured a landmark contract worth 190 billion won (approximately $137 million) to supply ultra-high voltage cables for power grid replacements in the eastern United States. This contract is the largest that Taihan Cable has ever secured in the US market.

The new deal involves supplying 138 kV and 345 kV cables, essential components for upgrading aging power grids. Over half of the underground power grids in the US are overdue for replacement, with many exceeding their 40-year lifespan. The increasing demand for electricity, driven by advancements in artificial intelligence and other technologies, underscores the urgency for these upgrades.

Including this latest contract, Taihan Cable’s new orders in the US have reached approximately 520 billion won this year, surpassing their previous annual record of 400 billion won in North America, set in 2022, within just six months. This milestone reflects the company’s robust growth and expanding footprint in the North American market.

The strategic focus on the US market aligns with the broader trend of modernizing aging infrastructure to accommodate the surge in energy consumption. Taihan Cable’s involvement in these projects positions it as a key player in the ongoing transformation of the US power grid system.
