Korean сable ьaker Taihan Cable & Solution is riding a wave of strong demand for power transmission equipment, with its order backlog reaching 2.3 trillion won ($1.8 billion) in the third quarter as the company ramps up production capacity.
The South Korean cable manufacturer secured 970 billion won in new orders during the quarter, followed by an additional 840 billion won contract from Singapore in October. The company showcased its expansion plans during an investor meeting at its Dangjin complex, where it’s building what it calls the country’s largest cable manufacturing hub.
The facility houses specialized equipment like the Vertical Continuous Vulcanization tower for producing high-voltage direct current cables. A new submarine cable plant began operations in June, with a second phase under construction and scheduled to open in early 2025.
The consolidation of production in Dangjin aims to strengthen Taihan’s position in the competitive global market for advanced power transmission equipment, particularly as demand grows for submarine and HVDC cables used in offshore wind farms and cross-border power networks.
Financial chief Noh Jae-jun told investors the company would maintain regular communication to boost shareholder value. The presentation materials were published on Taihan’s website for broader access.
