Samsung C&T\s subsidiary Samsung Welstory, a prominent South Korean food and beverage firm, has inaugurated a new logistics center equipped with a cold chain system in Bac Ninh, northern Vietnam. The facility, which covers a site area of 37,000 square meters and a floor area of 26,700 square meters, was completed on Wednesday.
This state-of-the-art center houses a food research laboratory, which is equipped for residue pesticide and microbial testing, and a culinary academy, aimed at fostering innovation and expertise in food services. With these capabilities, Samsung Welstory is poised to enhance its product quality and service offerings in the region.
The company’s strategic location in the northern industrial complex is part of its plan to attract new clients and expand its local food distribution operations. Since entering the Vietnamese market in 2014, Samsung Welstory has ascended to become the leading provider in the institutional catering industry. Last year alone, it served 73 million meals across more than 90 locations, generating sales of 140 billion won ($102 million). From its inception in Vietnam until last year, the company’s cumulative local sales reached 860 billion won ($629 million).
Samsung Welstory’s investment in the new logistics center reflects its commitment to consolidating its market leadership and expanding its footprint in the Vietnamese food service industry.
