Samsung SDS Co., a prominent South Korean technology firm, has been awarded the Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics (CEIV Pharma) certification by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). This certification sets a global benchmark for companies in the pharmaceutical logistics sector, ensuring they meet or exceed approximately 280 rigorous standards. These standards encompass strict temperature controls, the hiring of specialized management staff, comprehensive quality control systems, and adherence to international regulations throughout the drug transportation process.
The significance of this certification stems from the unique requirements of transporting pharmaceutical products, which demand precise temperature management to prevent degradation. This complexity goes beyond the needs of standard cargo, requiring sophisticated refrigerated or cold storage solutions to maintain the integrity of medications during transit.
Samsung SDS’s achievement of the CEIV Pharma certification in December follows its acquisition of the lithium battery air transport certification, marking another step in its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance in the logistics industry. The company plans to incorporate the stringent pharmaceutical air transport standards and practices recognized by this certification into its digital logistics service platform, Cello Square, enhancing its offerings in the pharmaceutical logistics domain.
