Lunit, a medical AI company, announced on August 29 that it has secured a partnership with Rezolute, a major US-based imaging diagnostic platform, to supply its AI-driven breast cancer screening solution, SecondRead AI. The collaboration also involves Volpara Health, a specialist in breast imaging analytics, marking a significant step in the integration of advanced AI technologies into medical diagnostics.
Rezolute, which operates over 40 imaging centers across the United States, plans to utilize Lunit’s SecondRead AI to analyze more than 300,000 medical images annually. This solution combines Lunit’s 2D mammography AI tool, Lunit Insight MMG, and its 3D breast tomosynthesis AI tool, Lunit Insight DBT, providing a comprehensive approach to breast cancer screening.
This partnership introduces a novel business model where patients directly cover the costs of using AI for image analysis, rather than the hospitals. Rezolute anticipates this will enhance profitability while also promoting the use of SecondRead AI across more than 60 additional clinics linked to its centers.
The agreement signifies the first deployment of Lunit’s AI solutions through Volpara’s US distribution network following its acquisition. Both companies aim to leverage this collaboration to enhance product capabilities and expand their distribution channels, creating synergies that could drive further growth.
Rezolute’s adoption of this technology highlights a broader trend in healthcare, where AI is increasingly utilized to improve diagnostic accuracy and efficiency, ultimately aiming to improve patient outcomes in breast cancer treatment.
