LG CNS Co. partnered with Bear Robotics Inc. to develop autonomous robots for industrial transportation, marking the South Korean company’s push into warehouse automation.

The deal combines LG CNS’s expertise in automated guided vehicles with Bear Robotics’ artificial intelligence capabilities. The Silicon Valley startup, which has deployed about 20,000 service robots across more than 20 countries, will help design both large-scale industrial transporters and compact warehouse units.

LG CNS, the IT services unit of LG Group, already offers AI-powered picking robots and vision cameras for logistics. The collaboration aims to strengthen the company’s position in the growing market for automated material handling solutions.

The companies signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday, though financial terms weren’t disclosed. The agreement reflects increasing competition among Asian technology firms to capture market share in industrial robotics, as manufacturers worldwide seek to reduce labor costs and improve efficiency.

Bear Robotics, known primarily for its restaurant service robots, will extend its reach into industrial applications through this partnership. The move signals the company’s ambition to diversify beyond hospitality automation.
