KRAFTON JAPAN has announced an extensive collaboration with the popular K-pop group NewJeans for its renowned battle royale games, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG) and PUBG MOBILE. This partnership aims to deliver fresh entertainment experiences to existing players while broadening the appeal to the MZ generation.
The collaboration has already generated significant buzz, with teaser content gradually unveiled. Last month, a teaser video released by PUBG featured supplies marked with NJ Tokki, a rabbit character associated with NewJeans, dropping from the sky. Following this, the iconic PUBG helmet logo was adorned with rabbit ears, accompanied by the phrase “GUESS WHO!”—further piquing curiosity.
On June 2nd, PUBG released additional teaser images and videos. The images showed NewJeans members running through a pastel-toned PUBG world, featuring in-game elements such as a bus, outdoor stage, airplane banners, and supplies all decorated with the PUBG x NewJeans theme. The vibrant visuals of the NewJeans members heightened anticipation among users.
PUBG MOBILE joined in by releasing a teaser video for the PUBG MOBILE x NewJeans Quick Voice feature. The video begins with the NewJeans members entering the game sequentially and ends with the playful message, “Are you aiming to be chicken today too?”
This collaboration will roll out in stages: the PUBG x NewJeans content will be available on PUBG PC from June 12, on PUBG Console from June 20, and on PUBG MOBILE from June 18. Users can expect a variety of themed content, including in-game items and visuals inspired by NewJeans.
This strategic partnership between a leading title in the battle royale genre and a global trend-setting icon promises to captivate fans and enhance the gaming experience with unique and engaging content.
