Korea Ginseng Corp. (KGC), a subsidiary of South Korean tobacco giant KT&G Corp., announced on June 13 that its renowned red ginseng brand Jung Kwan Jang is now available in Malaysia. The flagship products, including HongSamJeong Everytime (a red ginseng extract), Hong Sam Won (a red ginseng drink), and Good BASE Pomegranate with Korean Red Ginseng Stick, are being sold in 600 Guardian stores and 700 Watsons stores across the country.
The introduction of Jung Kwan Jang products into Malaysia’s thriving health functional food market, which has grown by 60% from 1.5 trillion won ($1.08 billion) in 2018 to 2.4 trillion won as of October last year, marks a significant step for KGC. The expansion leverages the extensive local distribution channels of Guardian and Watsons, renowned for their health and cosmetic product offerings.
In addition to its efforts in Malaysia, KGC is intensifying its marketing activities across the ASEAN region, particularly in Vietnam and Singapore. In Singapore, KGC has successfully entered major local shopping malls and department stores, offering products such as HongSamJeong Everytime.
This strategic expansion into the ASEAN markets reflects KGC’s commitment to broadening its global footprint and meeting the growing demand for health-functional foods in the region. As the popularity of red ginseng continues to rise, KGC aims to solidify its position as a leading provider of premium health products.
