HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co. (HD KSOE) has secured a contract with a European shipping company to construct two petrochemical product carriers (PC ships) for a total of 137.2 billion won ($100.4 million). The vessels will be built at HD Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding and are scheduled for delivery by December 2027.

This latest contract contributes to HD KSOE’s impressive order book for the year, bringing the total to 110 vessels, including one offshore facility, valued at $12 billion. This achievement represents 88.9% of the company’s annual order target of $13.5 billion.

The diversified orders reflect HD KSOE’s robust portfolio, which includes 8 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, 46 PC ships, 36 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and ammonia carriers, 1 ethane carrier, 2 liquefied carbon dioxide carriers, 6 very large crude carriers (VLCCs), 3 tankers, 2 pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs), 1 floating storage regasification unit (FSRU), 1 offshore facility, and 4 special ships.

The contract underlines HD KSOE’s strategic positioning in the global maritime industry and its capability to secure significant deals across various ship types. The addition of the two PC ships to their order book not only strengthens their market presence but also ensures continued growth and stability in their production pipeline.
